Johnny Robinson

2022 Service Award Winner

Veteran high school track official Johnny Robinson receives a Service Award from the Steering Committee for the 43rd running of the West Michigan All-Star Track Meet. Robinson is shown receiving the award from one of his teachers and coaches at Muskegon Heights High School.

Jill Evers

2021 Service Award Winner

Jill Evers, the girls' track coach for Kent City, received one of the two Service Awards recently at the 42nd running of the West Michigan All-Star Track Meet. Evers is shown receiving the award from Carl Treutler, a member of the meet's Steering Committee. Evers is retiring as a teacher at Kent City this spring after a 30-year teaching career there. She has had two track or cross country teams earn the Academic Team State Champions award. She also coached Kent City to its first state championship in any sport in 2006 when her track team won the Division 3 Girls State Track and Field Championship. Between cross country and track, her teams have won 12 regional titles and 38 conference championships.

Kirk Mikkelson

2021 Service Award Winner

Mikkelson won 17 boys' league titles in a row in the West Michigan Conference. John Swinburne

2019 Service Award Winner

Carl Treutler, presents a Service Award to former West Michigan All-Star Track Meet committee member John Swinburne (left). The presentation occurred during the 41st Meijer meet recently at Reeths-Puffer's Rocket Stadium. Swinburne and Treutler were both members of the original Steering Committee for the All-Star meet. The All-Star meet dates back to 1979 when it started as the West Michigan Invitational Track Meet. Swinburne coached boys' track at Oakridge while Treutler coached the boys' track team at Grand Haven in those days. Both have since had children run in the meet, and Treutler went one step further by having a grandson compete in the meet. Both have since retired from education although Treutler continues to serve on the Steering Committee for the Meijer meet

James Alviar

2018 Service Award Winner

James Alviar, center, a longtime member of the Oakridge Eagles' cross country and track teams coaching staff, received an award for his service recently at the 40th annual All-Star Meet. Alviar has served Oakridge in a coaching capacity for 39 years and coached all five of his children. A family member said "Jim's family always knows when track season is approaching because of his excitement to get a new pair of shoes. Coach Alviar may not even realize how many lives he has touched and the amount of knowledge he has instilled in his athletes, but he should know that he is beyond respected by all." Earl Dean

2017 Service Award Winner

The late Earl Dean, of Spring Lake Township, received an award from the Steering Committee of the Meijer West Michigan Invitational Track Meet in 2017. Earl, shown holding the award below, helped get the meet into the Social Media age more than a decade ago. The vast majority of the videos posted on the site since then were the result of Earl's expertise and help. Making the presentation to Earl was Carl Treutler, left, one of the original members of the Steering Committee for the All-Star meet. Earl attended Hesperia High School and later served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. 

Joan Ludtke

2015 Service Award Winner

Long-time White Cloud track coach Joan Ludtke, right, receives a Service Award from the Steering Committee of the 37th Annual West Michigan All-Star Track Meet. Ludtke has coached a variety of sports and age groups for more than 40 years in the White Cloud area. She was the head varsity track coach at White Cloud since 1995. Presenting her with the award is former Grand Haven High School teacher and coach Carl Treutler, a member of the Steering Committee. The award was presented during the 37th All-Star meet on May 20, 2015, at Reeths-Puffer's Rocket Stadium

Ben Nelson

2015 Service Award Winner

Ben Nelson, the longtime girls track coach at Mason County Central High School, received a Service Award for his work in the sport during the 36th Annual West Michigan All-Star Track Meet. Nelson coached the girls' team at Mason Central for more than 20 years. Earlier in his career he also coached at Mason County Eastern High School when the All-Star Meet first started in 1979. Nelson is shown receiving the award from former Ludington High School girls' coach Ross Donley. Donley has been a member of the Steering Committee for the Meijer Meet since 1979.
